SELFIE MANIA

A way to show other people how we want to be seen.

A typical desire to put oneself on a social media display in order to get other’s approval translated by likes...

Being considered as the greatest photographic trend of our time, selfies became so popular that the word was recently added to Oxford’s online dictionary.

WRONG IMAGE

Actually, taking a selfie is not about capturing a true moment anymore. Most of the times, people create a fake scene just in order to catch a picture and give a false impression through social media.

In this way, a selfie becomes a translation of a message that most of the time can reflect a fake situation.

SELFIE PURPOSES
• Photograph oneself while traveling
• A better way to catch the exact expressions
• Considered by some addicts as the best way for being popular among friends and the rest of the world

OBSESSION
Taking selfies will remain within normal behavior norms until it becomes an obsession.
In fact, Russian psychiatrists have reason to believe that our heavy obsession with the internet could soon be classified as a mental illness; specifically the act of taking and publicly posting multiple self portraits to social media.

DANGER
Selfies are most commonly criticized not for their potential risks, but for their associations with vanity and narcissism.

NARCISSISM
Excessive or erotic interest in oneself and one's physical appearance.

OBSESSION
An idea or thought that continually preoccupies or intrudes on a person’s mind.

VANITY
Excessive pride and admiration of one's own appearance and achievements.
