ALICE ELIA

Lebanese Fashion Designer and Iconographic Artist

Born in Bordeaux, France in 1993, to a French mother and Lebanese father, Alice’s desire to study fashion design began at a very young age.

Inspired by her mother’s passion for fashion and arts along with her broad travels, Alice was fascinated by the differences in styles that could operate from one geographical place to another, much of her time was spent in drawing and observing people.

Alice enrolled at Esmod Design School, Paris; her very first internship was in 2012, at Elie Saab Haute Couture Workshop in Beirut, where she sewed by hand and worked on embroidery and draping.

Alice mastered precision and understood the importance of refinement, patience, and concentration in achieving Haute Couture pieces. Her second internship was in 2014 at Chanel as a ready-to-wear collection assistant.
This six months internship was about building the link between the creation and the market, to ensure the proper development of collections.

IIn 2015, Alice began an internship at Saint Laurent for men and women leather ready-to-wear. It did not take long for her to be hired as assistant designer then after junior designer, today she is the official designer.
Her responsibilities apart from managing a team were very diverse varying from iconographic, vintage, detail, color, volumes researches, sketches and design proposals, simulations of placement and effects.

One of the most decisive experiences for Alice was when she designed and won the competition of the Red Carpet Green Dress Contest founded by Suzy Amis Cameron. The dress she created, made of organic GOTS certified silk dyed madder and Sappan wood, was worn by Olga Kurylenko for the 2014 Oscars.

Following this contest, she was contacted by American students attending Middle Tennessee State University College, and was asked to be the subject of their documentary “Le Debut”, shot in France which later won several awards at the 2014 Artlightenment Film Festival, including the prize for “Best Artist Film”.

Today Alice is seriously thinking of starting her own brand.

“I had the chance to work with Alice at Saint Laurent. She is a very talented and genuine designer. Always up for design challenges, she deals with a very heavy workload on an almost daily base always keeping a beautiful sunny energy and her famous humor.
She is like a breath of fresh air, even when the pressure was at its higher level. Alice has the perfect combination of talent, down to earth organization skills and great human values. She is a beautiful person, positive and crazy talented! I would love to work with her again and I am sure she will grow and become an important and impactful women in the design’s little planet.”
